According to Shaman and Kohn [1] there are four ways for viral infection transmission: (i) through direct physical contact with an infected individual; (ii) via intermediate objects; (iii) via droplets expelled from infected individuals (e.g., by sneezing or coughing) that deposit on nasal or oral mucosa of a susceptible individual; (iv) via expelled particles <2.5 µm in radius (droplet nuclei) that remain suspended in air as aerosols for extended periods of time.
